About Us
Software Innovation was founded in 1980 by our current President, Richard Threlkeld.
Our first client was Xerox at one of their Dallas locations. We wrote Cobol and assembly
for their mainframe systems with CICS and IMS. Later we wrote assembly language programs
that ran on custom microprocessors in some of the first personal computers. Those used
proprietary operating systems. We later ported CPM to their machines. We were also
the driving force in replacing literally rooms full of temporary workers with a couple of financial analysts and one of the new-fangled
spreadsheets (way before Excel)to compute the annual budgets.
Xerox has continually been our client since that initial engagement, but we have worked
for many, many other clients as we have grown. These include Allegiance Telecom, American Eurocopter,
Bank of America, BancTech, Clarify, Equant, the Federal Reserve Bank, FirstChoice, First RepublicBank,
Hogan Systems, InterFirst Bank, MBNA (and its predecessor SSBA), Micros-Fidelios, NCNB, Nortel,
Oxford Global Technologies, Stearman Technology Group, and others.
At Bank of America, we received their Peak Performance Award - the first time it was
given to a group outside the company.
We did several long term engagements with Equant in Canada building and enhancing various parts
of their global airport management systems.
Our latest large projects include a two year help desk design and implementation for the
North American part of a major client that substantially reduced headcount and costs while
improving customer satisfaction. Based on their savings we were engaed to buld the system
for their European company which interfaced with 12 back end systems in 8 languages. That two
year project in turn lead to an engagement to update their North American
help desk with capabilities from the European system and other new features.
These are n-Tier systems with business logic in one middle tier component and the access to back
end systems in another. The UI communicates with the business logic module. All communications are
encrypted. Data is transferred through XML streams that are converted to business objects in a
custom data factory using reflection. The middle tier elements are heavily multithreaded.
Connection pooling and cache is used in the back end access. All code is in C# with a local
SQL Server system, but it accesses back ends using Oracle and SAP also.
These systems reduced the help desk staff necessary to handle a given call volume by half.
Response times were tageted in the 3 second range, but measured results were often sub-second.
We are a Microsoft Partner and an IBM Partner.
Our president, Richard Threlkeld, is a Certified Public Account with over thirty
years of experience
crafting robust, productive application systems. He started his software career
writing operating systems for high end mainframes and brings those concepts to
his work. He reads technical texts, industry magazines, online sources, and
attends seminars to keep current. He is a member of several user groups and is
the treasurer for the Dallas .Net User Group.
Our Senior Developer is one of the best object oriented programmers on the
planet. He has a deep understanding of OO, patterns, C, C++, C#, remoting,
parallel computing, active domain, and much more. And he can communicate with
mortals!

Recent Milestones
Software Innovation has re-qualified for another year as a Microsoft
Partner. This is our 5th year as a Partner. We are currently running
Vista 64 and 32, Windows 7, Windows XP 64, Small Business Server 2008,
Exchange 2007, SQL Server 2008, SharePoint, Visual Studio 2008, and more
in our lab. We are consolidating systems under Server 2008 with Hypervisor
as our virtual hosting system. We know the software you are running.
To help us help our clients, we have also become an IBM Partner and are
pursuing the training and other benefits that offers to us. The results
for our clients should be a wider base of solutions for their opportunities.
Our President recently qualified as an American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)
Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP). This requires extensive
experience in various areas of the computer industry and proven knowledge
of business. We understand both your business needs and your IT needs - an
unusual combination among computer consulting firms.
